Nice - did this just this past weekend, but in reverse, up from 159th & I35 area to Shawnee Mission Park and back. A few of those hills near the Mahaffie section can really be a gut-punch! And caught your other video with the mtb at Shawnee Mission, I am close to getting into that myself... just need to buy a proper bike for it first :)

Fignon would have won if he'd just taken that time trial seriously. When seconds count, you savor every one. Did he really think LeMond could not make up that time? It's still astonishing.

Greg LeMond is a true American Bada$$. I often find that just when you are about to give up at something, you are actually closest to success. Definitely true for LeMond. He is everything Armstrong isn't and that's what makes him awesome.

after 3 years, how has the braking been on those? I've never had carbon rims either but the main thing that gives me pause is what I hear about braking performance on carbon compared to aluminum

I had watched some of the 85 and 86 tour, but being in the USA, it was mostly a 1 hour highlight real on ABC. 89 was when I really got into cycling myself and after LeMond's win in 86 and subsequent hunting accident, the whole tour was actually being covered. What an epic race and finale. I know ifs mean nothing, but for Delgado to start 2:48 behind was a gift to LeMond and Fignon. Can't imagine how it would have turned out if he started on level terms.

Those were the tough days compared to today. Heavy bikes, lackluster shifters, limited gears, no power meters, zero nutritional support, and poor travel comfort (taking the train for the champ, seriously?)

Thanks tim, entertaining, think the first tour i watched was 87, channel 4 highlights. By the early 2000s stop watching, to much bullshit and doping going on.

Fignon could’ve won on the last day if he simply rode with his hands at the center by the stem. The aero position would’ve gained him over 8 seconds.

Seems everyone’s doing it ! Why not legalise the stuff, would create level playing field, would get rid of corruption, favouritism immediately.

This music shivers me for two reasons: 1. IBC Headliners hourly news updates in the Philippines back in the late 90s 2. Japan Satellite Broadcasting on launch day, now WOWOW Even Shazam would not detect this music until a video linked me to this.

The issue is it's a cheap trash Craftsman.I like their tools but not their pop can flexy tool boxes....
